About

Hi, I'm Josh.

An independent Umbraco developer, based in the UK, working with agencies and in-house teams across the United States.

Umbraco Certified Master 14 years in Umbraco ASP.NET Core Umbraco Cloud Razor Examine

I've been working in Umbraco for fourteen years now, across just about every version of the platform since Umbraco 6. I'm an Umbraco Certified Master, one of a small number of developers worldwide to hold that credential. Mostly it just means I've spent a long time getting good at one specific thing, rather than a little time getting okay at many.

I'm UK-based, and every client I work with is in the US. That's not an accident. A flat day rate stays honest when there's no office or account team to fund, and a working day that stretches into the UK evening lines up with US business hours better than most people expect. There's a full breakdown on the USA coverage page.

What I actually believe about the work: boring, well-documented solutions beat clever ones. A site should still make sense to whoever inherits it in three years, including your own team if you bring on an in-house developer later. I'd rather tell you a piece of work will take longer than sell you a number I already know is wrong.

Who this isn't for

If you need a large team, fast, across several workstreams at once, I'm not that. I'm one person with a day rate, not an agency with bench capacity to throw at a deadline.

What I am set up for: teams that want direct access to a senior Umbraco developer, without the layers of account management that usually come with it.

Send over what you're working with. I'll give you a straight answer, even if that answer is "not me."
